  • Vancouver - Day 3

Day three of the Vancouver trip didn't start out very sunny. It actually started out wet and rainy. We slowly and lazily woke up around 9:30/10? Don't remember. It was one of those lazy kind of days. We decided to head out to the Vancouver Aquarium in Stanley Park. When we got to the aquarium, there were tons of people there. We were starting to wonder if any in Vancouver worked and we couldn't imagine how busy the weekend had to be. We saw alot of interesting fishies. Here are some highlights of the time there.

A very big scary fish that is from the Amazon. I don't remember it's name.

  • Vancouver - Day 2

It was such a nice change of pace to sleep in, but sadly as much as I wanted to sleep in, the sun rises very very early in vancouver. It rises about 5:30am and shined brightly through the thin curtains. sigh...I very much wanted to sleep in. Oh wells. Rise and shine! The wonderful bf woke me up several hours later to go for a morning swim on the apt buildings outdoor rooftop pool. BrRrrR....windy and cold. Well, the water was slightly warm, but the wind made it cold. I didn't stay up there very long. Swam a couple of laps and then headed back to the apt.

Breakfast at Urban Fare. Such a relaxing morning. We headed down the street to this nice Cafe and Super Market - Urban Fare for breakfast and some shopping. We saw this interesting square watermelon in the market, too bad we couldn't take it home. =)

  • Vancouver - Day 1

First day of my vacation to Vancouver started out at LAX where the musky icky smelling Alaska Airlines Terminal was located. We left for our flight to Vancouver at about 5:10pm which was 50 minutes late. Not a very good start, but we're finally flying!
Here's some pics from the flight:

An Open Letter to Girls Considering a Career in IT

Check out that article. I can totally relate. =)

    Excerpt (my favorite part) :

Smart is Sexy – There is nothing like being out with your girls
on the weekend and having some hot guy talking to you and the whole
“What to you do” question comes up. Whether I ask or they just feel
like sharing it always goes the same:

There is a pause, they look me in the face like they are wondering if I
understand big words, and say something like “I’m an Architect” or “I’m
a Business Analyst.” “Oh,” I usually say, “That’s really cool.”

Then we will talk about that for a minute, then usually they throw the
question at me. So, I look them in the eye, and while maintaining
contact I say “I’m a software engineer.” Then, when their jaw goes
slack a choir of angels in my head sings “BOYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.” Usually I can whip out something relevant to their career like “I guess
you must use AutoCAD?” Or if they are in IT as well we usually have
great conversations about different systems and concepts. It never
fails, I always get, “Wow, I can’t believe I’m talking about this with
    a girl!”
